Deadlines for National Conference are tight an usually decided at the autumn general meeting.

WHAT IS NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND HOW DO I GET TO GO?

National Conference is the decision making body of the Union. It is where ALL policy is decided. (so yeah quite important)

You can submit motions for consideration to conference at the autumn general meeting.

You can decide on the prioritisation of submitted motions at the spring general meeting. (not all of them get submitted to the final agenda)

You can submit amendments to potential motions at the spring general meeting.

Contact the Division Secretary for advice on how to do this.

Oh and yes it means attendance at General meetings!!

1.Deadline for submitting delegate lists is early february of the year of the conference.

2. Buckinghamshire is entitled to 8 delegates plus the secretary.

3. We normally have to book 12 months in advance to be part of a group booking in the best hotel.

4. As a rule of thumb we book 6 rooms ( as historically weve never had more than 6 attend), and early on establish if there will be anymore. Usually in the first General meeting of the new academic year.

So you need to attend the summer or autumn general meeting to establish with us very early on whether you want to take part due to the amount of work involved in booking rooms in conjunction with other divisions.

It wont be a decision you can easily drop out of, some commitment will be necessary.  And in turn it isn't something you can arrange at the last minute.

Delegates get given an allowance and travel expenses. Their hotel is paid for.
