The NUT is the largest teachers’ union both locally and nationally. Hackney NUT has over 1,600 members from nursery to 6th Form. We are the largest because we are the most effective. We encourage the participation of all members. We regularly produces newsletters and advice for members. We send delegates theNUT black members' conferences. The HTA is the only classroom teaching union to meet regularly with The Learning Trust. We negotiate with them on a range of issues affecting all teachers winning some of the best local agreements in the country. The HTA represent all teachers on the Schools Forum in Hackney. | The HTA recognises and celebrates the fact that we are a part of a vibrant inner city community. We work alongside community groups and other trade unionists. We care passion about defending education. We have been in the forefront of campaigns to oppose SATs, performance pay and league tables. We defend comprehensive, state education and oppose selection and privatisation. We have a proud record of fighting racism and fascism and defending asylum seekers. |
