Amendments for Conference Motions

 

This link is to a document containing two amandments to Conference Motions agreed at the General Meeting held on 25 Feb.

 

 

 

 

NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEMBER ELECTION

 

 

After many years of serving as National Executive Member, Jane Rudon has decided to stand down.

 

Leicestershire NUT thanks Jane for her service and long-standing commitment to the NUT. We will be expressing these thanks more formally at a later stage.

SATs BALLOT

 After a resounding yes vote in both the Indicative and 'Actual' ballot on a SATs boycott, both the NAHT and the NUT expect Heads to support our campaign and boycott theKS2 SATs from 4 May 2020.

Support is being provided to NUT Heads at National, Regional and Local levels, and LeadershipGroup members have also been supported and received advice. We are sure we can win this campaign through a show of unity.

As we have 10 places available, no election was necessary.

 

 

This section contains details of the nomination process for Committee and Local Officers, and for Annual Conference 2010.

 

COMMITTEE AND LOCAL OFFICERS

 

Members can be nominated for Committee members and as Local Officers. Current Officer posts include the following: Secretary, President, Treasurer, Equalities Officer, Membership Sec, Union Learning Rep, Young Teachers' Organiser, Retired Members Organiser, Minuting Sec, Health & Safety Adviser, Teacher Support Network Organiser, and Communications Officer.

Members wishing to attend Committee Meetings but not act as Officers can also be nominated for this.  A nomination form, including further details, is available here. Nominations can be made by two methods:

  • Completing the nomination form and returning it to the NUT office by post by Friday 15 Jan 2010.
  • Emailing relevant details to the NUT office at office@leicsnut.org by Friday 15 Jan 2010.
All persons must be current members of Leicestershire  NUT.

 

 

 

2010 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

 

Members will know that preparations for the NUT Annual Conference in Liverpool are now well under way.

 

The Conference runs from 2-6 April, and the booklet of Conference Motions is available here. Not all of these motions will get debated, as Local Associations and Divisions are currently prioritising which of these motions will hopefully be debated in Liverpool. Its a lengthy document, so be cautious about printing!

Any member of Leicestershire NUT can be nominated to attend Conference as a Representative. A nomination form, including further details, is available here. Nominations can be made by twol methods:

NEW NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEMBER

 

 

 

Ian Leaver will be the new National Executive Member for Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.

An Assistant Secretary for the City of Leicester NUT, Ian has been active in the NUT for many years, and we have no doubts that Ian will serve NUT members effectively. He has considerable experience of representing the NUT atCity and Regional levels, and are sure the transition from Jane to Ian will be a smooth one. Everyone in Leicestershire NUT wishes Ian well.
