Learning Needs

SUPPLY MEMBER TRAINING DAY

January 4 2010 saw Leicestershire NUT provide the first Training Day for Supply members. The day ran from 10am until about 4pm and covered a range of issues and topics of interest to Supply members.

These included

• Behaviour management strategies
• Teaching and learning issues
• How the NUT can support supply members
• A Q & A session
• Further training needs

It is fair to say that the day was a huge success, with a number of members braving the inclement weather to attend what was a tiring but useful day. It was held at the Best Western Leicester Stage Hotel on the Welford Road, which proved to be an excellent venue.

We intend to repeat the day next term, as we know a number of members could not get to this day. Training for Supply members could even become a termll event, mirroring the Teacher Days for school-based members!
