On March 28th Rochdale NUT joined striking teachers in London as part of the on-going pensions campaign. Many thanks to Martin and Gail for taking the banner and to the school reps who sent Camden NUT messages of support and solidarity.

 National Conference 2011

Many thanks to the 5 Rochdale delegates who gave up their Easter weekend to attend what was probably the most successful conference the NUT has hosted for many years. As well as the over whelming support given to the action on pensions, the union was able to restate its opposition to local authority cuts, to the free schools and academies programme, and to a host of other national and international educational issues. March for the Alternative

More than 60 members and friends from Rochdale NUT joined thousands of peaceful demonstrators in the biggest march of its type for decades. Estimated numbers range from 250,000 to 450,000 marchers who were effectively stewarded by TUC officials with a very discrete police presence throughout the majority of the route.

Many thanks to those who attended - feedback was 100% positive, and particular thanks go to the Regional Office team, led by Avis Gilmore, for organising transport and mobilising 1500 members from the North West!
