I came to teaching in 1998 after a career in Engineering.  After an initial four years working as a secondary Maths teacher I have worked for the last eight years as a supply teacher in almost 100 secondary, primary and special schools.  Recently, I was chairperson for the campaign to save Wisewood and Myers Grove Schools from merger and this has led me to join the Sheffield NUT Executive. I hope to play my part in increasing the number of activists in the local Union.  Through this I hope we can empower local teachers to stand together against the target driven blame culture which pervades the current education system and ease the continuing and widespread workload problems.
