Welcome to Haringey Teachers’ Association.
The NEU is the largest Teachers’ Union in Haringey, with over 2,000 members. These include headteachers, newly qualified teachers, teachers in training and retired teachers. The HTA works together with other trade unions and community groups and we represent all teachers on the Schools Forum in Haringey.
The HTA committee represents the views of our members in local and national negotiations. It is made up of teachers from primary, secondary and units/centres in the borough, also retired teachers. Committee members are elected annually. There are two committee meetings per term.
At the HTA office there are full time Branch Officers, who are available to answer general queries, give advice and support and, if necessary, represent teachers on matters affecting them at work. Officers are experienced in employment negotiations and will work to gain the best possible outcome for members.
General Meetings, open to all members, are held in the Autumn and Summer terms and the Annual General Meeting is held in March every year. HTA’s Retired Teachers’ Section gets together twice a year and their Annual General Meeting is held in February. Meetings are usually followed by a meal and a chance to meet other teachers.
There is a social event every September for all newly qualified teachers and teachers new to Haringey where they can make new friends and meet our Officers and Committee Members.
